The Seventh Day of #SADDmas!
I’m Sierra and I was part of the Northern Lights SADD program for two years until I graduated high school. I joined SADD during my junior year, the summer before I struggled with depression and bullying. I wasn’t too sure about joining SADD for a really long time, but once I finally did I jumped in head first. I wanted to participate in any project that I could possibly get my hands on until I was appointed to be the lead of a project in which a group was going to come into my school and present. I fought my advisor on this decision, but I finally gave in and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Because of this decision, I was able to travel the country and share my testimony of hurt and perseverance with students. I never would be sitting where I am without having NL SADD to open that door. I got connected to the organization through the advisor at my school who was also one of my art teachers, and from there everything began to get better. Being part of SADD inspired me to become increasingly involved with my church group and other school organizations.
In the future, I would like to see NL SADD continue to grow. Grow in student numbers, community involvement and continue to impact more and more students. What I want people to understand is that joining SADD was well worth it. SADD forever changed my life for the better. I am not the only young person that this organization has helped overcome. Donate today to Northern Lights! You will provide access to the SADD program to students in your community, that are seeking a place to develop their leadership and feel accepted for who they are!
